Freya Prewett was a pure-blood witch and the youngest daughter of Fabian Prewett and sister of Gwenna Prewett. Making her the niece of Molly Weasley and first cousin of her children.
She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1994 to 2001 alongside her cousin Mafalda Prewett. She was sorted into Gryffindor house.
After graduating from Hogwarts she went on and gained an apprenticeship at St. Mungo's where she became a medi Witch.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Freya was born on the 8th of March 1984 and was the youngest daughter of Fabian Prewett and his wife. Unfortunately, her mother died during childbirth, leading to her and Gwenna to be raised by their father.
She often spent time at the Burrow with her father's side of the family, being closest to Charlie, despite their age difference and Ginny.
She met Athene Black due to her father who was a close friend of hers and as a result was introduced to her children and Cassandra Crowley.
Hogwarts Years (1994-2001)[]
She was sorted into Gryffindor house on the 1st of September 1994. She was excited about joining Hogwarts and about the Triwizard tournament, keeping tabs on the progress of the competition and cheering Harry on.
Post-Hogwarts[]
She graduated with good grades which allowed her to get an apprenticeship at St. Mungo's Spell Damage ward.
Etymology[]
- In Anglo-Saxon the meaning of the name Freya is: Queen of the gods; In Norse the meaning of the name Freya is: Noblewoman; While in Scandinavian the meaning of the name Freya is: Lady. Derived from the name of Freyja, the Norse goddess of love and fertility and mythological wife of Odin.
- The surname Prewett is Welsh in origin. It is derived from the Middle English word prou, meaning "brave" or "valiant", and the suffix "-et", which implies smallness. Thus, it is believed to be derived from a nickname for someone small, but brave.
